Lanta Yai Island is approximately 30km long and 6km wide. A mountain range with rain forest runs down the middle of the length of the Island. The east coast of the island is home to several local villages including the sea gypsy village of Sang-Ga-U.  The west coast of the island faces the Andaman Sea, and consists of one beautiful sandy beach after another.  This is where most of the hotels, restaurants and Lanta Lagoon Villas are located.  There are many tourist facilities but the island is far less developed than the beaches of Krabi or Phuket.
